The Burren

The unique diversity of the Burren's flora has constantly attracted much attention and is at its best about mid-May or a little later. Its extraordinary rock formations, spreading over 500 sq km, have been referred to by many observers including General Ludlow, who led Cromwellian forces to Limerick and Clare in 1651 as "a lunar landscape". The Limestone pavements are a direct result of glaciation and erosion. The area is rich in megalithic tombs and ring forts steeped in antiquity.

The Aran Islands

The legendary Aran Islands, a testimony to man's triumph over the elements, lie just five miles off the coast of Co. Clare. There are three islands in the group, Inismore, Inismaan and Inisheer all serviced by ferry from Doolin in Co. Clare. The Aran Islands are one of the last outposts of Gaelic civilization where Irish is still the spoken language of the inhabitants. The islands are stunningly beautiful and feature cliffs, incredible rugged landscapes, ancient forts and other relics of our prehistory. Traditional Irish Music is a feature of the Island’s pubs.

Touring

Lahinch is very conveniently located for day trips around north Clare and south Galway. The Galway Bay area is littered with the ruins of ancient settlements, most notably the prehistoric Poulnabrone Dolmen, Corkconroe Abbey and the site at New Quay. The coast road South takes you past the Cliffs of Moher, numerous sandy beaches and around Loop Head Drive, with its dramatic Cliff landscape and quiet fishing villages. To the East, Lough Derg - Ireland's Pleasure Lake is within and easy day drive as is Galway City.

Shannon Airport & Kilimer Ferry are within a 1 hour drive.

Hoping to make your stay a memorable one.
